This source comprises the surviving portion of the 1845 census of the city of St. Louis. This census includes only the names of the head of the household. Some business and institutional names are also included. Entries usually include city block number; numbers of white males and females in different age ranges in the household; numbers of "colored" slave and free males and females in different age ranges in the household; occupation category; notation of new building; and occasional remarks.
